Trailblazers Swept by MSU Denver in RMAC Semifinal Friday

Dixie State could not overcome a cold hitting night on an even colder Friday evening in the Mile High City as the No. 3-seeded Trailblazers' bid for a 2019 RMAC women's volleyball tournament title came to an end in a straight-set loss to No. 2 seed MSU Denver, 21-25, 17-25 and 21-25, at the Regis Fieldhouse.

The loss dropped the Blazers to 20-8 overall, while the Roadrunners (23-6) will move on to play the winner of the second semifinal match between top-seed and host Regis and No. 4 seed Colorado School of Mines in Saturday's RMAC championship match.

Senior To'a Faleao and junior Megan Treanor threw down seven kills apiece to lead DSU. Faleao also collected seven digs and one block assist, while Treanor tallied 15 assists, six digs and one total block. Senior Lauren Gammell added six kills with three total blocks (one solo), and junior Jordyn Nelson finished with 15 assists and eight digs.

Dixie State was held to a .076 hitting percentage, its second-lowest percentage of the season, and 34 total kills, while the Blazers strong service game netted just one ace on the night. DSU also tallied 52 digs and 7.0 total blocks on the defensive end.

MSUD hit .175 for the match with 37 kills and five aces, and the Roadrunners finished 10.0 total blocks and 51 digs.

Dixie State, which is currently ranked ninth in the latest NCAA Division II South Central regional rankings, will find out this Monday night, Nov. 25, if the Trailblazers will make their fifth NCAA tournament appearance in their final NCAA Division II season. The 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Tournament Selection Show will air live online at NCAA.com on Monday at 5:30 p.m. (MT). The 2019 NCAA South Central Regionals will be held Dec. 6-8, at a site that has yet to be determined.
