Dixie State gave No. 1 UCCS all it could handle, but a late Mountain Lion goal proved to be too much to overcome as the Trailblazers came out on the wrong end of a 2-1 result Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium.

UCCS limited the DSU offense to just three total shots in the opening 45, while Mountain Lion midfielder Shanade Hopcroft scored the first of her two goals on the day midway through the 21^st-minute to give her side a 1-0 first half lead.

The Trailblazers (4-2-3/2-1-2 RMAC) struck for the equalizer less than four minutes into the second frame when Kelsey Cook played a ball to Alexa Ashton, who finished the chance with a high-center shot for her third goal of the year to knot the match at 1-1.

The score remained tied until the 76^th-minute when Hopcroft blasted a 30-yard free kick that slipped just under the crossbar and over the fingertips of DSU keeper Adelle Brown to put the Mountain Lions (10-0-0/6-0-0 RMAC) back on top. DSU had one last chance to tie the match with 5:40 to play, but a Kilee Allsop shot off a Blazer corner kick sailed over the crossbar.

Dixie State returns home to face Colorado Christian on the pitch at Trailblazer Stadium this Friday at 5 p.m.
