Dixie State collected its fourth win in its last five matches overall on the strength of a 4-1 road result at Fort Lewis Sunday afternoon at Dirks Field.
The Trailblazers (5-4-1/4-2-0 RMAC) struck for three first half goals, the first came just 44 seconds into the match when
Guglielmo Bianchi tucked home a penalty kick for his fourth goal of the season.
Idris Alabi (1) extended the DSU lead to 2-0 nearly 10 minutes later with his first goal, which was set up by a
Daniel Brubaker feed, and the Blazers got another goal with seven-plus minutes to go in the frame when
Tony Foulger punched in a carom off the Skyhawk keeper, who stopped the sophomore's first shot attempt inside the FLC 6-yard box.
Dixie State increased its advantage to a 4-0 midway through the 55
th-minute after another foul inside the FLC 18 resulted in second penalty kick chance.
John Joseph was called upon to take the kick and he promptly fired home his fourth goal of the season.
FLC (6-1-3/4-1-1 RMAC) spoiled the Blazers' shutout bid in the 63
rd-minute with a Ryan Lee goal, but that would all they would surrender as Dixie State coasted the rest of the way to secure its third RMAC road result.
DSU goalkeeper
Zach Nielson was credited with a career-high 10 saves in the win, which tied him with former DSU keeper Spencer Anderson (10 vs. Cal Poly Pomona, 2014) for the second-most saves in a single match in program history.
Dixie State returns home to face South Dakota Mines on the pitch at Trailblazer Stadium this Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
