ALL-TIME VS. COLORADO MESA: Saturday's game marks the 11th meeting (NCAA Division II era) between Dixie State and Colorado Mesa. The Mavericks rolled to a 42-14 victory in the inaugural matchup on Aug. 24, 2006, in Grand Junction. DSU recorded its first victory of the series one month later, capturing a 21-6 win in St. George on Oct. 7, 2006. Colorado Mesa countered with five consecutive wins before Dixie State shocked the No. 23 Mavericks with a 38-31 victory in Grand Junction in 2016. The Mavericks responded with a two-game win streak in 2017 and 2018 to take an 8-2 series lead, including a 4-1 mark in St. George.

KNOW YOUR FOE: Colorado Mesa enters Saturday's matchup with a 4-4 overall record and a 4-3 mark in RMAC play. The Mavericks have won two of their last three games, including a 58-21 win over Black Hills State last week.

CMU averages 32.6 points scored and 366.9 yards gained per game, including 217.1 yards per game through the air. Sophomores Aaron Howard and Hayden Bollinger have split time at quarterback, with Howard completing 72 passes for 839 yards and 10 touchdowns and Bollinger connecting on 48 passes for 850 yards and five touchdowns. Senior Peter Anderson has been the favorite target for the quarterbacks with 32 receptions for 641 yards and five touchdowns. Two other receivers have snagged at least 20 passes, including KJ Sapp (24 receptions/266 yards/3 TD) and Dagan Rienks (20 receptions/287 yards/3 TD). Sophomore Isaac Maestas leads the CMU rushing attack with 565 yards and six touchdowns on 111 carries.

Defensively, the Mavericks allow 34.0 points and 423.2 yards of total offense per game. Sophomore linebacker Greyson Matalus leads the Mavericks and ranks seventh in the RMAC with 67 tackles, while senior defensive end Mason Newton has chipped in 56 tackles and is tied with DSU defensive lineman Dylan Hendrickson for an RMAC-best 9.5 sacks. Senior safety Nick Ciccio is tied with DSU defensive back Aaron Simpson for an RMAC-best five interceptions.

Sophomore kicker Lucas Ruiz-Diaz ranks third in the RMAC with nine successful field goal attempts with a long of 51 yards.

MAKING THE GRADE: Senior defensive back Alex Lilliard (3.30 Recreation and Sport Management) was named to the RMAC Academic First Team on Wednesday. Six others were named to the RMAC Honor Roll, including seniors Dylan Douglass (3.31 GPA, Criminal Justice), Sei-J Lauago (3.37 GPA, Criminal Justice), and Joshua Partida (3.44 GPA, Criminal Justice), and sophomores Augustus Fraser (3.34 GPA, Nursing), Gage Manzione (3.65 GPA, Exercise Science), and Kyle Whitesides (3.49 GPA, Social Science Composite Teaching).

LAST TIME OUT: Dixie State saw its six-game win streak come to end with a 40-27 defeat at the hands of Chadron State on Homecoming Saturday.

RUSHING RECORD: Senior running back Sei-J Lauago tied the DSU career rushing touchdowns record on Saturday with his 69-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage. The run, his 17th career rushing touchdown, also marked DSU's longest run from scrimmage this season.

BREAKING THE CENTURY MARK: Redshirt senior receiver Dejuan Dantzler recorded his third overall, and second consecutive, 100-yard receiving game of the season on Saturday, making seven catches for 119 yards and one touchdown. The feat marks the first time a DSU receiver has eclipsed the century mark in consecutive games this season.

LEADING THE LEAGUE: Redshirt sophomore Dylan Hendrickson, who added two sacks to his season tally on October 19 at Western Colorado, leads the RMAC and ranks fourth nationally with 9.5 sacks. He now holds the DSU single-game and single-season sack record.

Senior defensive back Aaron Simpson leads the RMAC and ranks fifth nationally with five interceptions and 138 return yards during the 2019 campaign. The five interceptions also tie the DSU single-season record.

MAKING HISTORY: Aaron Simpson became the DSU single-season and career interception return yards leader on September 28, snagging two more interceptions to go with 56 return yards to push his season total to 138 yards. Simpson is also the DSU single-game interception return yards leader after racking up 82 return yards at New Mexico Highlands on September 21.

The Trailblazers' 55-0 victory over NMHU on September 21 marked the first complete shutout in DSU's 14-year NCAA era. The victory also set a new Trailblazer mark for the largest margin of victory, breaking the previous margin of 42 points against Adams State last year.

The Trailblazers' 23-14 win over Fort Lewis on September 14 marked DSU's first win in a road-opener since joining the NCAA Division II ranks in 2006.

A record-setting 6,512 fans packed Trailblazer Stadium on September 7 to watch DSU take on CSU-Pueblo. The mark snapped the previous single-game attendance record of 5,498 set last year against Fort Lewis.

UP NEXT: Dixie State heads to Golden, Colorado, for its final road game of the season next Saturday at No. 9 Colorado School of Mines. Kickoff is set for Noon.
