Dixie State saw its four-match winning streak snapped in a 3-1 loss at MSU Denver Friday night at the Auraria Event Center.
Dixie State (12-6/7-3 RMAC), which came into Friday's match just one-half game behind the second-place Roadrunners (13-4/8-1 RMAC) in the RMAC standings, looked to be on its way to an easy first-set win as the Trailblazers held a 22-14 lead after a
Miranda Ekblad kill. However MSUD would mount a big rally, outscoring DSU 11-1 to snatch the opening frame away, 25-23.
The Blazers came right back and opened the second stanza with a 15-5 run and would coast to a 25-15 win to square the match at 1-1. MSU Denver answered with a 25-21 triumph in set three, and would close out the match with a 15-6 run in the fourth frame en route to a 25-15 set win.
DSU was held to a season-low .086 attack percentage and 42 kills in the match, including just 15 total kills combined in the third and fourth sets.
Megan Treanor led the Trailblazers with nine kills to go with 17 assists and seven digs, while Ekblad finished with eight kills.
Dixie State now travels to Nebraska to play at Chadron State on Saturday night at 6 p.m. (MT).
