Dixie State pushed its winning streak to three-straight with a 3-1 victory over UCCS on Friday night inside the DSU SAC.
The first set featured three big runs, two of which favored the home side as the Trailblazers (11-5/6-2 RMAC) opened the match by scoring 10 of the first 15 points recorded. UCCS clawed right back with nine-straight points to wrestle the lead away at 14-10, but Dixie State answered with a 15-5 rally to claim the opening frame, 25-19.
DSU trailed just once in the second set, though a 17-4 run Blazer run erased the Mountain Lions' (6-10/4-4 RMAC) brief 9-8 advantage, as Dixie State took a 2-1 lead in the match with a 25-13 win. UCCS broke through with a 25-19 triumph in set three to avoid the sweep, but the Trailblazers put the match away with a 12-3 start to the fourth frame and rolled to a 25-15 set win.
Megan Treanor just missed posting her second triple-double of the season as she tallied a match-high 13 kills with 17 assists, nine digs and five total blocks.
Miranda Ekblad (hit .818) and
To'a Faleao added nine kills apiece, and
Lauren Gammell and
Sydney Johnson each finished with six kills.
Jordyn Nelson (1,516 asst) also posted a double-double with 11 digs and 23 assists, including her 1,500th-career dime late in the opening set.
Dixie State hit .230 for the match with 47 kills, while the Blazer defense held UCCS to a .130 attack percentage thanks to 72 digs and nine total team blocks.
Mykenna Nelson collected a match and career-high 27 digs to go with four assists and three aces, while Ekblad tied a career-high with five total blocks and Gammell picked up four block assists.
Dixie State wraps up its RMAC homestand on Saturday afternoon as the Trailblazers host preseason conference favorite Colorado School of Mines. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
