Dixie State football will take a break from Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action on Saturday, and will play host to former Great Northwest Athletic Conference foe Simon Fraser inside Trailblazer Stadium.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., as the Trailblazers (4-1, 4-1 RMAC) play their lone non-conference contest of the season. Live coverage is scheduled on television (CEC-TV – TDS Cable Channel 108), radio (Radio Dixie 91.3 FM), and online on the DSU Stretch Internet Portal (portal.stretchinternet.com/dixiestate), with Keric Seegmiller providing play-by-play and Drayson Ball offering analysis and color commentary.

ALL-TIME VS. SIMON FRASER: Saturday's game marks the 11th overall meeting, and the first since 2015, between Dixie State and Simon Fraser. The first 10 matchups of the series saw the Trailblazers and Clan compete as members of the GNAC, with Saturday's contest marking the first time the teams will meet as non-conference opponents.

Dixie State won the first matchup between the teams on Oct. 2, 2010, a 28-21 triumph in Burnaby, BC, Canada. The win sparked a three-game win streak in the series for DSU, before Simon Fraser responded with three consecutive wins of its own. Since then, the Trailblazers have claimed three of the last four matchups, including a 38-35 win on a rainy October day in 2015 in the most recent matchup between the teams. Dixie State holds a 6-4 lead in the all-time series, including a 3-2 mark at Trailblazer Stadium.

KNOW YOUR FOE: Simon Fraser enters Saturday's matchup in search of its first victory of the season. The Clan hold an 0-5 overall record and an 0-2 mark in GNAC play.

SFU is averaging 9.4 points scored and 282.6 yards gained per game, with the majority (253.6 yards per game) of that production coming through the air. Freshman quarterback Brandon Niksich captains the offense and has completed 76-of-148 passes for 1,031 yards and four touchdowns. His favorite targets include Rysen John (20 receptions/368 yards/4 TD), Gavin Cobb (18 receptions/254 yards), and Ethan Beselt (20 receptions/247 yards).

Defensively, the Clan are allowing 50.6 points and 526.2 yards per game. Junior linebacker Griffin Barrett leads the SFU defense with 57 tackles, including 23 solo stops. Junior linebacker Anthony Crescenzo leads with a team-best 3.0 sacks, while senior defensive back Matt Duda has logged the lone SFU interception of the season.

NON-CONFERENCE NUGGETS: Dixie State will look to snap a four-game losing skid in true non-conference matchups. The Trailblazers hold a 5-16 record in true non-conference games, earning their last victory over a team outside of their conference on Oct. 25, 2014, in a 28-6 win over Menlo College.

LAST TIME OUT: Dixie State rolled to a 52-22 rout of Black Hills State at Trailblazer Stadium last week, racking up 677 yards of total offense in the process.

QUALITY QUARTERBACKS: The Trailblazers enjoyed high quality quarterback play in the win as Keaton Mott and Kody Wilstead combined to complete 30-of-38 passes for 473 yards and five touchdowns. The duo also connected with 11 different receivers throughout the game. Mott completed 12-of-15 passes for 137 yards and one touchdown before leaving with an injury in the second quarter. Wilstead picked up where Mott left off and connected on 18-of-23 passes for 336 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for another 50 yards and one touchdown.

TERRIFIC TIGHT ENDS: The Dixie State tight ends accounted for three of the Trailblazers' five touchdown receptions. Chase Hess snagged four passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns, marking the first 100-yard receiving game for a DSU tight end since Joe Don Duncan in 2013. Blake Kilgore also snared a touchdown pass, marking the first time in DSU's NCAA Division II era that two tight ends have recorded a touchdown reception in the same game, as well as the same season.

FIRST-HALF FRENZY: The Trailblazers scored a season-high 31 first-half points against Black Hills State, five more points than DSU scored in the first half of the first four games combined.

CHASING HISTORY: Dixie State enters Saturday's game on a four-game win streak and can set the program record for most consecutive wins with a victory over Simon Fraser.

MAKING HISTORY: The Dixie State defense recorded 7.0 sacks in a 28-16 win on September 28 at South Dakota Mines, matching the DSU single-game record set against Western Colorado in 2018.

Aaron Simpson became the DSU single-season and career interception return yards leader on Saturday, snagging two more interceptions to go with 56 return yards to push his season total to 138 yards. Simpson is also the DSU single-game interception return yards leader after racking up 82 return yards at New Mexico Highlands on September 21.

The Trailblazers' 55-0 victory over NMHU on September 21 marked the first complete shutout in DSU's 14-year NCAA era. The victory also set a new Trailblazer mark for the largest margin of victory, breaking the previous margin of 42 points against Adams State last year.

The Trailblazers' 23-14 win over Fort Lewis on September 14 marked DSU's first win in a road-opener since joining the NCAA Division II ranks in 2006.

A record-setting 6,512 fans packed Trailblazer Stadium on September 7 to watch DSU take on CSU-Pueblo. The mark snapped the previous single-game attendance record of 5,498 set last year against Fort Lewis.

UP NEXT: The Trailblazers will travel to Gunnison, Colorado, next Saturday to battle Western Colorado. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
