Trailblazers roll past Colorado College, 8-1

Dixie State sweeps two-match trip

The Dixie State women's tennis team completed a two-match sweep of its Colorado trip with an 8-1 win over Colorado College on Saturday in Grand Junction.

The Trailblazers (2-0) built a 2-1 lead during doubles play, as Elly Lloyd (Holladay, Utah/Olympus) and Juliana Honczaruk (Corrientes, Argentina) cruised to a 6-0 sweep at No. 3 doubles to open the match. Yolena Carlon (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista) and Isabel Heras (Saipan/Marianas) claimed the second doubles point with a 6-4 triumph at No. 1 doubles.

Dixie State swept through the singles matches to clinch the 8-1 victory. Lloyd set the tone with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, while Carlon followed suit with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles. Kyra Harames (Spokane, Wash./Central Valley) battled to a 6-3, 7-6 triumph at No. 2 singles, and Heras rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 6 singles. Megan Lynch (Albuquerque, N.M./New Mexico Military Institute) recorded a 6-2, 6-7, 10-5 win at No. 3 singles, while Hattie Erekson (St. George, Utah/Pine View) logged a 7-5, 1-6, 10-4 victory at No. 4 singles.

The two-match trip wraps up the DSU fall schedule. The Trailblazers will return to action in February.
