GAME ONE – Dixie State 7, Chaminade 0

Dixie State broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third, turning two hits into a 2-0 advantage. Shelby Yung (Upland, Calif./Upland HS) opened the inning with a leadoff double to center field, and moved to third on a Dani Bartholf (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert HS) single to right field. Josey Hartman (Mapleton, Utah/Maple Mountain HS) brought Yung home from third with a sacrifice fly to center field, while Bartholf moved third. Bartholf later scored on a wild pitch to give DSU the two-run advantage.

The Trailblazers added three more runs in the top of the sixth when Bassett scored from third on a double-steal play, while Mallory Paulson (Fruita, Colo./Fruita Monument HS) and Jessica Gonzalez (Kingsburg, Calif./Kingsburg HS) each drove in a run in the inning to push the lead to 5-0.

Dixie State put the finishing touches on the win in the seventh inning, as Bassett drove a two-out RBI-single to center field, followed by a Bailey Gaffin (Glendale, Ariz./Mountain Ridge HS) RBI-single to right field to push the advantage to the final count of 7-0.

Five different DSU players recorded an RBI in the win, as Bassett and Gaffin each went 2-for-4 to lead the attack. Beardshear tossed her fifth complete-game shutout of the season with eight strikeouts, improving to a PacWest-leading 10-1 on the season.
