The Dixie State football team is set to play host to Adams State on Saturday for a Homecoming matchup at 1 p.m. inside Legend Solar Stadium.

Live coverage is scheduled on television (CEC-TV – TDS Cable Channel 22), radio (ESPN 97.7 FM), and online at the DSU Stretch Internet Portal, with Keric Seegmiller providing play-by-play and Andy Thompson offering analysis and color commentary.

ALL-TIME ON HOMECOMING SATURDAY: Saturday's matchup marks Dixie State's 12th homecoming game of its NCAA Division II era (2006-present). The Trailblazers currently hold a 4-7 record in Homecoming Saturday matchups with victories over Humboldt State (2008, 2013), Western Oregon (2009), and most recently Menlo College (2014).

ALL-TIME VS. ADAMS STATE: Saturday's game marks the eighth meeting between Dixie State and Adams State. The Grizzlies earned a 37-7 victory in the inaugural matchup between the two teams on Sept. 2, 2006, in Alamosa. DSU answered with a 24-16 victory on Sept. 1, 2007, and a 37-28 victory on Aug. 27, 2009, both at home, for its first two wins of the series. Adams State responded with a three-game win streak (2010-12) before the Trailblazers earned a 24-21 victory in Alamosa last season. Adams State holds a 4-3 series lead, but DSU owns a 2-1 record vs. the Grizzlies in St. George.

LAST MEETING: Oct. 29, 2016. Dixie State earned the program's first win at Rex Stadium in Alamosa, Colorado, in a 24-21 thriller.  Led by DeJon Coleman (Los Angeles, Calif./Arleta HS) (206 yards rushing, TD), the Trailblazers logged 472 yards of total offense. Anthony Reyes (Queen Creek, Ariz./Dobson HS) nailed a 21-yard field goal as time expired to clinch DSU's first five-win season.

KNOW YOUR FOE: Adams State enters the game with the same record (3-5, 3-4 RMAC) as Dixie State. The Grizzlies have scored 30 or more points in four games this season and have earned wins over Western State (51-14), Fort Lewis (34-27) and South Dakota Mines (52-44).

The Grizzlies lead the RMAC and rank second nationally in pass offense, averaging 349.8 yards through the air per game. Senior Jorge Hernandez and junior Nick Rooney have both seen action at quarterback in 2017, but Rooney has started in the last seven outings. Rooney leads the RMAC with 300.9 yards passing per game, completing 186-of-307 passes for 2,106 yards and 19 touchdowns to go with six interceptions. His favorite target and RMAC receiving leader, Chad Hovasse averages 110.0 yards receiving per game. Through eight games, Hovasse has made 63 catches for 880 yards and nine touchdowns. Two other ASU receivers have caught five or more touchdown passes, including Marquese Surrell (54 receptions, 737 yards, 8 TD) and James Holtrop (40 receptions, 403 yards, 6 TD).

Defensively, the Grizzlies allow 503.0 yards per game (263.2 rush, 239.8 pass) and have logged a combined eight sacks. Defensive back Garrett Jackson leads the attack with 76 tackles (8.5 TFL) and two sacks. Defensive backs Michael Cirino and Ashton Lawson lead the team in interceptions with two takeaways each.

Tiago Paim and Montana Gomez have each seen time at kicker for Adams State, combining to convert 6-of-9 field goal attempts. Kane Bowen handles punting duties, averaging 38.3 yards per punt on 34 attempts.

MAKING HISTORY: Senior linebacker Noe Perez (Santa Ana, Calif./Los Amigo HS) tied the DSU single-game record with three sacks at Western State on September 30. Perez matched the effort first recorded by Nick Rocco at Central Washington in 2010.

LEADING THE LEAGUE: Through eight games Dixie State leads the RMAC in pass defense (145.0 yards per game), pass defense efficiency (115-231-8, 49.8 completion percentage, 93.6 efficiency rating), and opponent third down conversion (37-117, 31.6 %). The Trailblazers rank second in offensive pass efficiency (145-239-7, 15 TD, 139.3 efficiency rating), kickoff coverage (39.6 return yards per game), and fourth-down conversions (7-11, 63.6 %).

LAST TIME OUT: Dixie State dropped a 19-17 heartbreaker at Colorado Mines. The Trailblazers fumbled twice in the final eight minutes and the Orediggers ran out the clock to seal the victory. Blake Barney (St. George, Utah/Dixie HS) jump started the offense in the second half, completing 10-of-11 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for another 35 yards. Noe Perez (Santa Ana, Calif./Los Amigo HS) recorded a career-high 15 tackles, while Mike Jones (San Diego, Calif./Mount Miguel HS) turned in his second-straight double-digit tackle performance with 13 tackles.

NEXT UP: Dixie State hosts No. 24 Colorado State-Pueblo next Saturday at 1 p.m. in the 2017 home finale. The game will serve as the team's Senior Day, as well as Military Appreciation Day.
