Men's Soccer Handles Holy Names Tuesday, 1-0

Moises Medina scores his first collegiate goal and Trella ties DSU's career ShO record in the victory

Dixie State won its fifth-straight match and remained undefeated in Pacific West Conference play with 1-0 shutout result vs. Holy Names Tuesday night at Legend Solar Stadium.

Dixie State (5-3-0/3-0-0 PacWest) tallied its lone goal of the match midway through the 32nd-minute when junior Bryan Baugh (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley HS) sent in a powerful inbound throw to the middle of the Hawk penalty area to freshman Moises Medina (Mesquite, Nev./Virgin Valley HS), who headed home his first collegiate goal past the drawn out HNU keeper to give DSU a 1-0 lead.

Holy Names (0-5-1/0-3-0 PacWest) tried to mount a rally in the final five minutes of regulation with two shots on target, but Trailblazer senior netminder Bradley Trella (Chandler, Ariz./Chandler HS) stopped both shot attempts to pick up his second-straight solo shutout win in goal. The shutout was also Trella's 11th of his career, which moved him into a tie atop Dixie State's career shutouts list with former DSU GK Tyler Waters (2010-13), who had 11 career shutouts in his four-year career.

DSU dominated play from the opening touch as the Trailblazers held a decisive 22-3 edge in shots, including a 10-2 count on goal.

Dixie State will host defending PacWest champion Fresno Pacific this Saturday night at Legend Solar Stadium beginning at 5:30 p.m.
