Dixie State ran its winning streak to four-straight with a 3-0 triumph over Holy Names Saturday afternoon at the DSU Student Activities Center. With the win, the Trailblazers improve to 6-4 overall, 3-0 in Pacific West Conference play, while Hawks fell to 1-11, 0-4 in league action.
The Trailblazers won the first two sets by matching 25-12 counts and held a commanding 19-13 lead in set three, but the Hawks rattled off a 7-1 run to pull even at 20-20. However DSU would go on to score the final five points of the stanza to close out the match, 25-20.
Dixie State hit Holy Names with a balanced attack as
Lindsay Garrett (St. George, Utah/Desert Hills HS),
Brette Anderson (Prescott, Ariz./Prescott HS) and
Taylor Duryea (Logan, Utah/Sky View HS) each finished with seven kills, while
Kayla Chapman (Fullerton, Calif./Troy HS) and
Jaydra Thurber (Temecula, Calif./Chaparral HS) notched five kills apiece. DSU hit .250 for the match, including a season-high .500 clip in the opening set, and held HNU to an opponent season-low -.082 percentage. Dixie State's defense also collected 15 blocks in the match, highlighted a career-high tying nine total blocks by Garrett.
Dixie State will return to the DSU SAC court this Monday night as the Trailblazers welcome in Hawai'i Hilo at 6 p.m.
