Dixie State suffered its third-straight loss Saturday night after the Trailblazers dropped a hard-fought five-set duel with Pacific West Conference leader California Baptist in the DSU Student Activities Center. With the loss DSU (12-7/8-3 PacWest) fell two games back of the Lancers (15-4/10-1 PacWest) in the league standings with nine conference matches remaining.
After losing the first set by a 25-18 count, the Trailblazers never trailed in sets two (25-21) and three (25-22) to take a 2-1 lead in the match. The Lancers bounced back to even things at 2-2, using a decisive 12-3 run to turn a one-point lead into a 10-point advantage en route to a 25-16 win in set four. CBU led wire-to-wire in the deciding fifth set and scored six of the final eight points of the stanza to claim a 15-8 win and clinch the match victory.

Brette Anderson (Prescott, Ariz./Prescott HS) finished with 11. DSU hit .200 for the match, which included a .378 clip in the third set.
CBU's Jenna Perry finished two total blocks shy of the triple-double as she tallied a match-high 22 kills to go with 17 digs and eight block assists to pace the Lancers, while Lauren Hackett added 18 kills with 13 digs. CBU hit .340 in the match, including a .688 percentage in the deciding fifth set.
Dixie State will quickly turnaround to face second-place Concordia-Irvine in a rare Sunday tilt tomorrow at 12 noon inside the DSU SAC.
