Men's Soccer Slides Past BYU-H, 1-0

DSU defense extends shutout streak with fourth-straight 1-0 win

Dixie State posted its school-record fourth-straight 1-0 victory Thursday night as the Storm outlasted BYU-Hawai'i at Hansen Stadium. With the victory DSU remained unbeaten and atop the Pacific West Conference standings at 4-0-1, 6-1-1 overall, while the Seasiders fell to 3-6-0, 1-3-0 in league play.

Junior defender Jason Arollo (Glendale, Ariz./Apollo HS) scored DSU's lone goal of the match late in the 34th minute on a throw in deep in the BYU-H penalty box. The ball then deflected off of two Seasider defenders before he corralled it and fired it into the net for his team-leading third goal of the year.

Dixie State's defense made that goal stand as the Storm faced 16 shots in the match, nine on goal, with junior goalkeeper Bradley Trella (Chandler, Ariz./Chandler HS) recording a career-high nine saves to post his fifth shutout win of the year. DSU's defense extended its impressive shutout streak to 410:50, while Trella lowered his PacWest leading GAA to 0.49.

"The boys defended very well tonight," Head Coach Josh Pittman said. "We were put on the back foot a lot in the second half, but we got a timely finish from Jason [Arollo] and were able to get the win."

Dixie State will play host to Hawai'i Hilo Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m., at Hansen Stadium.
