Women's Soccer Slips Past CBU in OT, 1-0

Storm wins sixth-straight; pulls into four-way tie for first in PacWest standings with 18 points

Kaisa Rogers (Springville, Utah/Springville HS) tucked home her fifth goal of the season in the eighth-minute of the first overtime period to lift Dixie State to a 1-0 victory at California Baptist Thursday afternoon in Riverside, Calif. With the win the Storm (8-6-0/6-3-0 PacWest) pushed their winning streak to six-straight and moved into a four-way tie atop the PacWest standings with 18 points, while the Lancers dropped to 5-7-1, 5-3-0 in conference action.

Rogers tallied her fifth goal of the season at the 97:43 mark of the match as she corralled a Jasmine Arollo (Glendale, Ariz./Apollo HS) corner kick and tucked home the ball from inside the 6-yard box. Rogers' goal tied her with Arollo for the team lead, while Arollo picked up her team-leading seventh-assist and 17th point of the year.

After allowing a combined four goals in its last two matches, the Storm defense held the Lancers without a shot on goal for the first 74 minutes and gave up just two shots on goal for the match. Senior goalkeeper Stacie Gubler (Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde HS) picked up her third-straight road win and her fifth win of the year as she stopped both Lancer shots on goal to preserve the shutout.

"This game was a great battle for us," DSU Head Coach Kacey Bingham said. "It came down to who was going to take advantage of their opportunity first. Our defense and goalkeeper did great today and we got a huge goal from Kaisa [Rogers]."

Dixie State will close out its four-match California road swing this Saturday as the Storm travels to Irvine for a first-place showdown with PacWest co-leader Concordia (7-2-2/6-1-0/18 pts). Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. (PT), and livestats for the match can be found at www.dixieathletic.com.
