Dixie State remained unbeaten in PacWest Conference play with a 1-0 victory over Dominican University Friday afternoon in San Rafael, Calif. The win improved the Storm's program-best start to a season to 4-1-1, 2-0-1 in PacWest play, while the Penguins fell to 1-8-0, 1-3-0 in the league standings.
Dixie State tallied the match's lone goal early in the 42
nd minute as the Storm took advantage of a hand ball call inside the Penguin penalty box. Senior
Santiago Alejandro (Oakley, Calif./Alhambra HS) cashed in the chance for as he booted home the penalty kick for his second goal of the year to put DSU up 1-0.
DSU made that lone goal stand up as the Storm defense stymied Dominican, allowing just 11 shots, three on goal. Reigning PacWest Defensive Player of the Week
Bradley Trella (Chandler, Ariz./Chandler HS) collected three saves to pick up his third shutout win of the year in goal.
