The match will kickoff at 12:30 p.m. from Hansen Stadium and will be televised on SouthernUtahLive.com.
Last week in Storm soccer: DSU went 1-1 last weekend to close out a four-match swing in California. Last Saturday, Cal Poly Pomona was able to avenge an earlier loss to Dixie State with a 2-0 shutout. CPP held the Storm without a shot in the second half. DSU bounced back Monday afternoon with a 2-1 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Erica Gonzalez (Avondale, AZ/Westview) put the Storm on the board in the first half and
Jennifer Mason (Springville, UT/Springville) netted the game-winner in the second half. Dixie State completed the non-league portion of their schedule with a 2-3-1 record.
Mason adds to her career lead: Monday's goal at CSUDH was Jen Mason's eight game-winner of her career. She is the Dixie State all-time Division II leader in game-winners. Her current cushion is two goals over former players Erin Beeston and Wendy Stratford.
Kimberly Thurman (Sandy, UT/Alta) is the next highest active player on the career list in a tie for seventh place with three game-winners.
A look at the Lancers: California Baptist has played one of the toughest non-league schedules in the West region. Two opponents, Cal State Stanislaus and Western Washington, were ranked in the top 11 in the nation at the time of their matches. Throw in a very tough Cal State L.A. team to that list and CBU's 2-4 record is not as bad as it looks on paper, especially with wins over Chico State and UC San Diego. The Lancers dropped a 1-0 decision to Cal State San Bernardino last Saturday. CBU is led sophomore forward Justene Kesterson with one goal and two assists.
Hawaii on the horizon: After Saturday's league opener, the WSOC team will fly over to the islands of Hawaii for four matches over an eight-day span.
Year two: Kacey Bingham is in her second season as head coach. Prior to DSU, she led Paradise Valley (Ariz.) Community College to the NJCAA National Championship in 2012.
