DIXIE STATE AT CPP, CSUDH STORYLINES

Return to the Golden State: After a rocky weekend under warm conditions, the Dixie State women's soccer team returns to Southern California for its non-league finale against Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday and Cal State Dominguez Hills on Monday.

Last week in Storm soccer: DSU went 0-2 last weekend with losses to Cal State L.A. (4-0) and nationally-ranked Cal State San Bernardino (3-1). In Saturday's match against the Coyotes, Erica Gonzalez (Avondale, AZ/Westview) put the Storm on the board with her first goal of the year, but CSUSB's deep bench and temperatures in the upper 100's led to the Storm surrendering three goals in the second half.

A look at the Broncos, Toros: Since their loss to DSU on Sept. 6, Cal Poly Pomona has been on a roll to build their season record to 4-1. The Broncos have shutout two teams by a score of 3-0 and downed No. 18 Metro State, 3-1. Dominguez Hills has not scored a goal in four matches, going 0-3-1. The Toros are in the middle of a six-match homestand which will include non-league matchups with the PacWest's Azusa Pacific and DSU.

PacWest quest begins nest week: Dixie State, picked fifth in the PacWest preseason poll, officially opens league play on Sept. 27 at home against the Lancers of California Baptist.

Year two: Kacey Bingham is in her second season as head coach. Prior to DSU, she led Paradise Valley (Ariz.) Community College to the NJCAA National Championship in 2012.
