ST. GEORGE, Utah – Thirteen days removed from their last competition, the Dixie State baseball team looked like they had forgotten the formula to win baseball games. Trailing after three innings in the series opener with Cal State Los Angeles, the Red Storm found their stride after posting 10 runs in their half of the fourth inning, helping secure a 17-9 win over the Golden Eagles. John Conquy (Las Vegas, NV/Durango) followed in the nightcap with his first shutout and second consecutive complete game in a 7-0 non-conference victory.

In game one, Kris Kaplan (Las Vegas, NV/Cimarron Memorial) provided the big blast for Dixie State (28-13) of the fourth inning with a grand slam home run to close out a 10-run spurt. Kaplan later added a solo home run to go 3-for-5 with 5 RBI. Drew McLaughlin (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) had a pair of doubles, including a three-run 2B in the fourth, and Tyler Blair (Henderson, NV/Green Valley) added a homer as each knocked home three runs. The Red Storm knocked around 17 hits off three CSULA (14-25) pitchers.

Bronson Anderson (Lehi, UT/Lehi) earned the win tossing 3.1 innings in relief to even his record at 2-2. Ryan Santhon took the loss giving up eight runs in three-plus frames.

Conquy took care of business in game two surrendering three singles en route to a complete game shutout on 111 pitches. He struck out seven while only walking one.

Offensively, Blair continued to swing a hot bat with a solo home run and two doubles. Ty Johnson (Thousand Oaks, CA/Millennium) plated two RBI while Kevin Kline (Las Vegas, NV/Rancho) and Donald Glover (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy) each had two hits.

For the Golden Eagles, Greg Humbert surrendered seven runs over five innings to take the losing decision.
