SETTING THE PLATE

• Dixie State has won two straight series and six of their last eight overall. After starting in the preseason NCBWA West Region poll and dropping out after an 0-7 start, Dixie State is just outside the region Top 10 this week.

• Tyler Blair (Henderson, NV/Green Valley) and Drew McLaughlin (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) leads Dixie State in hits with 18. Six players currently have batting averages over .300, led by Trey Kamachi (Kapolei, HI/Kapolei) (.391) and Austin Bartleson (Kennewick, WA/Southridge) (.357). DSU has hit only three home runs on the year - two coming from Blair and one during the CBU series from Kevin Kline (Las Vegas, NV/Rancho).

• As a team, the Red Storm's combined ERA sits at 4.49 and opponents' batting average is at .293. The back end of the bullpen came up big during the Storm's series win at California Baptist. Taylor Stone (Sierra Vista, AZ/Buena (AZ)), Kevin Dorantes (Las Vegas, NV/Cimarron Memorial) and Evan Parker (Ogden, UT/Bonneville) each earned wins in relief. Parker earned PacWest Pitcher of the Week honors with his win and a pair of saves. Matt Hill (Cypress, CA/Pacifica) has been lights out working the eighth inning and pressure-packed situations.

SURVEYING THE SAINTS

• Saint Martin's enters the non-conference series with a 2-9 record and 1-3 mark in the GNAC after a weekend set on the road with Northwest Nazarene.

• The Saints are hitting .245 as a team. Junior catcher/outfielder Chandler Tracy is leading SMU in hitting - .438 batting average, four HR and eight RBI. Travis Shaw has four doubles and a .341 batting average.

• Pitching has been a question mark for the Saints thus far. Combined, the staff has a 6.78 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .358 against them with eight homers. Zach Carter has been the most successful starter recrding both winning pitching decisions and a 2.11 ERA.
