SETTING THE PLATE

• Dixie State has won four straight series including a sweep of Holy Names to cap off a week-long road trip in the Bay Area. DSU is riding a five-game win streak and have been victorious in 16 of the last 20 games. The Red Storm has returned to the NCBWA West Region Poll, slotting into the No. 9 spot.

• Drew McLaughlin (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) leads Dixie State in hits with 34. Four players currently have batting averages over .300, led by Trey Kamachi (Kapolei, HI/Kapolei) (.429) and Austin Bartleson (Kennewick, WA/Southridge) (.357). Kevin Kline (Las Vegas, NV/Rancho) paces the club in home runs with three and RBIs with 26. Kris Kaplan (Las Vegas, NV/Cimarron Memorial) broke out of a power slump with a pair of home runs against Holy Names.

• As a team, the Red Storm's combined ERA sits at 3.95 and opponents' batting average is at .280. These totals dramatically dropped in DSU's favor after a 12-game stretch where the team's ERA was 3.45 and opponent only hit .262 collectively. PacWest Pitcher of the Week Chance Abrath (Salt Lake City, UT/West) earned the Storm's first complete game of the season against Holy Names. Evan Parker (Ogden, UT/Bonneville) paces the PacWest with seven saves.

SIZING UP THE SEA WARRIORS

• Hawaii Pacific makes its second trip to the mainland with a 14-6 overall record. HPU has played a majority of their games in Hawaii, most recently splitting with California Baptist and winning three of four from Point Loma.

• The Sea Warriors are hitting .317 as a team, second best in the PacWest. Junior infielder Cody Ellenwood leads the Warriors with a .426 batting average while junior outfielder Kevin Lenik has hit four of the team's five home runs.

• HPU pitching has allowed less that a hit per inning as a staff. Together, the Sea Warrior WHIP (walks and hits to innings pitched) is at 1.29. Doug Christie has the staff's only complete game. Joshua Garcia has the best ERA of any starter (2.34).
