Team Effort Leads Storm to Victory over Holy Names

Box Score ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Dixie State University women's basketball team cruised to a 95-80 victory over Holy Names University tonight in a Pacific West Conference battle at the Burns Arena.
 
Haley Holmstead (American Fork, UT/American Fork) scored 38 points to lead the Storm (9-11/7-7 PWC) to victory. Her 14-21 shooting helped DSU finish 37-74 (50 percent) from the field for the game.
 
"The ladies showed what we were capable of tonight when we play as a team," said head coach Catherria Turner. "It was a great team win and we have something to build on."
 
DSU rebounded their way to victory and limited its turnovers (15) to be able to control the tempo and pace of the game.
 
Haileigh Emerine (Spanish Fork, UT/Spanish Fork) dominated the glass with 18 rebounds, despite only scoring four points, her presence was felt in the middle.
 
The Storm used 19 points from Kaylah Miller (San Diego, CA/La Jolla Country Day) and a stellar 14 points from Brianna White (Phoenix, AZ/Tolleson Union) off the bench to put away the Hawks.
 
Holy Names had four players in double figures, with Sonia Aguilar leading the way with 32 points.
 
The Red Storm play at home three times next week, with BYU-Hawaii coming to town on Tuesday night at 5 p.m.
