ST. GEORGE, Utah –  Dixie State men's soccer posted one of their most dominate results in program history with a 5-0 victory against Chaminade on Monday at Hansen Stadium.

With the win, DSU improved to 2-4-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the Pacific West Conference.

Playing in physical conditions, Dixie State used a first half goal and assist from Erik Shallenberger (Las Vegas, NV/Arbor View) to build a lead they would never relinquish to the Silverswords (0-6/0-2 PacWest).

To open the scoring, Shallenberger corralled a loose ball off the keeper and pushed it past the Chaminade goalkeeper Nic Jenner in the 31st minute. Over 11 minutes later, Shallenberger sent a long pass toward the goal box, where David Stirland (Hurricane, UT/Hurricane) snuck a shot just underneath Jenner that trickled into an open net.

Sean Jenne (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial) fired a shot off a free kick just a minute into the second half to increase the Dixie State lead to 3-0.

Chaminade played one player down from the 67th minute on after Marcus Kuhns received a second yellow card. The match saw eight yellows in total, six bequeathed to the visitors.

One short minute after the red, Wade Canon (Meridian, ID/Meridian) took a penalty kick after a handball foul in the goal box was called on the Silverswords. His shot evaded the keeper for the 4-0 advantage.

A pair of freshmen capped of the DSU scoring on the night. Bobby Schwarzkopf (Glendale, AZ/Deer Valley) fired a right side pass to local product, Justin Brinkerhoff (Saint George, UT/Desert Hills). His shot kissed off the left post, in true hometown fashion, and into the net in the 81st minute.

For the match, Dixie State outshot CUH 31-5, including 13-2 on goal. Tyler Walters (Ogden, UT/Ben Lomand) earned his first shutout of the year, the 11th in his four-year career.

The Red Storm continues play at home against the BYU-Hawaii Seasiders on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
