Shallenberger scores late in PacWest loss to HPU

Box Score

ST. GEORGE, Utah – Erik Shallenberger (Las Vegas, NV/Arbor View) scored his third goal in the last two games, but the offensive effort fell short in Dixie State's 4-1 defeat to Hawai'i Pacific on Saturday.

The Red Storm fell to 1-4-2 on the season and remained winless in the Pacific West (0-3-1). HPU improved to 3-2 overall, 1-0 in the PacWest.

"It's hard to believe the team played well today," head coach Danny Ortiz (Las Vegas, NV/Cimarron) said. "Every team at every level has a game like we had tonight, but you can't stop believing in yourselves."

Brais Garcia had a hat trick for the Sea Warriors, while Felipe Silvas had two goals and an assist.

Shallenberger's tally in the 81st minute came on a penalty kick.

Tyler Walters (Ogden, UT/Ben Lomand) made seven saves in goal for the Storm.

DSU is back in action Monday against Chaminade. The match starts at 7:30 p.m. after completion of the women's match at 4:30 p.m.
