Bats come alive in 11-1 win over Hawks

Christoffersen tosses six strong innings

SAINT GEORGE, Utah – Kody Christoffersen (Ogden, UT/Weber) completed his second quality start in a row and got plenty of offensive support on Saturday afternoon as Dixie State defeated Holy Names, 11-1, to take their weekend Pacific West Conference series at Bruce Hurst Field.
 
The Red Storm had 15 hits, including a 4 for 5 afternoon from Yuto Kata (Chiba, Japan/Juan Diego (Utah)), to improve to 23-9 on the year and 16-8 in the PacWest. The Hawks were held to five hits in dropping to 10-24, 7-15 PWC.
 
Christoffersen held a potent HNU offense that had 30 hits over the first three games to just three hits while striking out two over six innings for his fourth win of the year.
 
Dixie State broke open the game with a seven-run third inning that featured four doubles – two from Kevin Kline (Las Vegas, NV/Rancho) and #D.J. Andrade# that each brought in two runs.
 
Mitch Manning (Kaysville, UT/Davis) pushed the lead to 10-1 with a three-run homer – his fourth of the year – to right field in the fourth. Colton Yack (South Jordan, UT/Bingham) completed the scoring with an RBI single an inning later.
 
Mick Jarvis (Duluth, GA/Desert Hills), Tyson Hudson (Magrath, Alberta /Magrath High School ) - in his DSU debut - and Cody White (Lacey, WA/Timberline) combined to throw three scoreless innings to preserve Christoffersen's win.
 
Dixie State battles Grand Canyon in a critical PacWest series beginning Thursday, with first pitch at 7 p.m.
