The Series
The Red Storm has a lopsided edge in the all time series with Art U, winning 25 of 28 meetings. Dixie State won the first 13 games spanning over three seasons. Last year, DSU swept the opening series of the season against the Urban Knights at Laney College in Oakland and won three of four during a March set at Hurst.
Where to watch and listen to the series
CEC-TV will broadcast the first game of the series Friday on its cable channel and online (http://dixie.edu/live). John Potter will be on the call simulcasting his audio feed for the television broadcast. Every game of the series can be heard via Dixie State All-Access. Live stats for all four games are available via a link at DixieAthletics.com.

The Coach
Chris Pfatenhauer is in his sixth year as a head coach, third in the collegiate ranks and first at Dixie State University. Prior to arriving in Saint George, Pfatenhauer was the first assistant at the University of Nevada under longtime skipper Gary Powers. He has also coached at Chico State, College of the Ozarks, College of Southern Nevada (club) and Faith Lutheran (NV) High School.
Hawaiian Excursion
Dixie State took two and a half of three games to open the team's road swing to the islands. DSU took two from the Vulcans of UH Hilo on March 11, 15-0 and 2-1. Day two action was rained out after six complete innings and a 1-1 tie. The Storm took a 3-1 lead in the seventh before conditions at Wong Stadium became unplayable. The remainder of the tied game and the seven-inning DH game that was missed will be made up on Thursday, March 27 in a neutral site – the baseball diamond at California Baptist in Riverside, Calif.
DSU then suffered its first three-game skid of the season at Hawai'i Pacific before salvaging the series finale. The Storm were shutout in the first two games (7-0, 8-0). Mike Dedrick (Cedar City, UT/Canyon View) and Austin Christiansen (Las Vegas, NV/Legacy (NV)) combined to hold HPU to two runs on five hits in the Storm's 5-2 victory on March 15 at Hans L'Orange Park.
Storm recognized by the PacWest
Two DSU players have earned Pacific West Conference Player of the Week awards for contributions during the first month of the season. Garrett Nash (Draper, UT/Jordan) earned the honor for his 8-for-19 series against Cal State LA. Nash scored five runs, had three doubles, eight RBI and three stolen bases. Two weeks later, Kris Kaplan (Las Vegas, NV/Cimarron Memorial) posted five hits and five RBI against Montana State Billings. Kaplan had three doubles and added five runs scored.
