Andersen nets first goal of year in 4-1 loss at CBU

Box Score

RIVERSIDE, Calif.  – Junior midfielder Aarika Andersen (Bountiful, UT/Woods Cross) scored her first goal of the season early in the second half of Thursday's 4-1 loss to California Baptist in Pacific West Conference play.

The Red Storm were out shot 24 to four, including an 11-0 tally in the first half, to drop its season record to 7-6-2 overall and 7-4-1 in league action.

"We played really well, but it wasn't consistent enough," DSU head coach Kacey Bingham said. "CBU did a better job capitalizing on our mistakes than we did theirs."

Andersen's goal came 58 seconds into the second half off a right-side crossing pass from Abby Jameson (Tyler, TX/Robert E. Lee).

Jennifer Mason (Springville, UT/Springville) took two of DSU's four shots to lead the way. Stacie Gubler (Las Vegas, NV/Palo Verde) stopped four shots in goal.

Dixie State battles the Lancers again on Saturday at 1 p.m. MT in a non-conference finale.

"We hope to perform better in the final third (of the field) on Satuday," Bingham added.
