Elimelech notches second career goal for Dixie State

Box Score

SAN FRANCISCO – Nadav Elimelech (Las Vegas, NV/Spring Valley) scored his second goal in as many matches, but the Dixie State men's soccer team suffered its third defeat in the last four matches. Monday's loss to Academy of Art, 4-1, capped off a short two-match swing to the Bay Area.

Dixie State fell to 2-7-3 on the season and 1-6-2 in the Pacific West Conference.

Elimelech put the Red Storm 1-0 in the 24th minute with a six-yard shot off a Kris Evans (Draper, UT/Alta) assist. The lead would only hold for 10 minutes after the Urban Knights found the equalizer in the 34th minute. ART U (7-4-1/4-2-1 PacWest) scored four minutes later to take a 2-1 lead into the break.

Two more goals early in the second half ballooned the Urban Knight lead to 4-1. Dixie State had five corner kicks in the second half, but only had five shot opportunities over the final 45 minutes.

ART U won the overall shot battle in the match, 19-14. David Stirland (Hurricane, UT/Hurricane) paced the Storm with four shots and Elimelech added three.

Tyler Walters (Ogden, UT/Ben Lomand) made four saves during the match.

The Red Storm returns to Hansen Stadium for three matches over a three-week span. DSU hosts Azusa Pacific on Oct. 19 at 12:30 p.m., the Sea Lions of Point Loma on Oct. 26 at 11:30 a.m., and will makeup a match with Westminster postponed by weather earlier this year on Nov. 3 at 4 p.m.
