Box Score

OAKLAND, Calif. – After surrendering a first half goal, Dixie State women's soccer got second half scores from Jennifer Mason (Springville, UT/Springville) and Ashley Wade (Saint George, UT/Pine View) to help the Red Storm defeat Holy Names 2-1 in Pacific West Conference play.

The Red Storm improved to 5-4-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the PacWest.

Dixie State played the aggressors most of the match, and early it cost the Storm the lead. Off a turnover, Kayla Kaleiohi scored past Stacie Gubler (Las Vegas, NV/Palo Verde) for a 1-0 HNU lead.

"We made a big error in the back line and gave up (that) early goal," DSU head coach Kacey Bingham said. "I'm proud of the way we fought back and win our first match coming from behind."

Mason tied the match in the 65th minute. Five minutes later, Wade took the pass off an Emily Fox (Lehi, UT/Lehi) free kick into the net for the game-winner past Jenni Dooley.

The Red Storm outshot the Hawks 14 to six and was called back for six offsides. Gubler earned the win despite not facing another shot on goal other than the HNU score. Mason led the game with five shots, followed by Wade and Megan Marchbanks (Springville, UT/Springville) with two.

Dixie State plays Academy of Art on Monday.
