Hansen Leads Red Storm to Victory Over Sea Lions

SAINT GEORGE – Kelsey Hansen (Spark, NV/Reed)'s goal in the 67th minute gave the Dixie State College women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Point Loma Nazarene at Hansen Stadium.
 
The Red Storm handed the Sea Lions their first conference loss of the season with the pivotal victory.
 
Hansen's goal was scored when she headed a shot over the top of the Sea Lions goalie Tiffany Kracy and she chased it down and deposited into the open net. It was her second goal of the season.
 
The Red Storm had pressure on PLNU all game, winning the shot advantage 16-6.
 
Abby Johnson (Escondido, CA/Mission Hills) had one save on the night and earned her second consecutive shutout in goal.
 
“What a big win for us! We are really starting to play well as a team,” said head coach Linda Huddleston.
 
Dixie State improved 4-3-1 overall and 4-1 in PacWest play and ran their streak to three games in a row.
 
The Sea Lions dropped to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in PacWest play.
 
Tonight's game was the first of six in a row at home for the Red Storm. They welcome Hawaii Hilo on Monday night at 7:00 pm.
