WSOC: Seasiders end DSC winning streak at five

2-0 loss drops DSC to 2nd place in the PacWest

ST. GEORGE – Dixie State College saw its five-match Pacific West Conference winning streak came to a halt Monday at Flyer Field. The visiting Seasiders of BYU-Hawaii ended the first half with a late goal and added another in the second half to defeat the Red Storm by the score of 2-0.
 
Dixie State (6-4-2, 6-2-0 PWC) outshot its league rival 16-7, but PWC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year Megan McCain stopped all eight shots she faced on goal to earn the shutout for BYU-Hawaii (6-2-1, 4-1-1 PWC).
 
Korral Koehler put the Seasiders up 1-0 with 2 seconds left in the first half depositing a loose ball in the goalie box to the right side post. DSC goalkeeper Abby Johnson (Escondido, CA/Mission Hills) tried to stop it with a stabbing leg save, but the ball had crossed line.
 
The Seasiders added a goal from Terryn Soelberg, assisted by Abbie Fronk.
 
Kaisa Goodman and Danica Pickett (Las Vegas, NV/Las Vegas) each had two shots on goal for Dixie State.
 
The Red Storm return to the field at Hansen Stadium for a Thursday PacWest match with Hawai'i Pacific University at 7 p.m.
