Cougars shutout DSC women's soccer

Box Score

AZUSA, Calif. – Two streaks heading in opposite directions.

Call it a bad derivation of the classic Frost poem, but it accurately portrays the picture of a rising Azusa Pacific women's soccer program and the continuing struggles, of late, experienced by Dixie State.

A 3-0 shutout in Pacific West Conference action earned APU its ninth consecutive victory and straddled DSC with its seventh straight loss.

The Cougars (12-5, 11-2 PWC) outshot Dixie State (6-9-2, 6-7 PWC) 27-7. Emily Wood and Natalie Sun notched goals in the first half while Heidi Witschi added a score in the 75th minute.

Jennifer Mason (Springville, UT/Springville) led Dixie State with four shots. Abby Johnson (Escondido, CA/Mission Hills) made eight saves in goal.

Senior Day awaits the Red Storm as they return home next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against Azusa Pacific.
