ST. GEORGE – The Dixie State College women's soccer team peppered 19 shots on Monday at Hansen Stadium, but only one found the net. A goal by Jennifer Mason (Springville, UT/Springville) in 69th minute pushed the Red Storm's current match winning streak to five with a 1-0 Pacific West Conference win over Hawaii-Hilo.
 
Mason shot through the middle of the field and evaded a pair of UHH defenders before beating the keeper to the right side. The Red Storm moved to 5-1 in the PacWest with the victory and 5-3-2 overall.
 
UH Hilo (3-5-0, 1-4-0 PWC) missed a prime chance early. Analysa Rodriguez bounced a shot off the left post after getting a clear look. DSC only outshot the Vulcans by three in the first half, but intensified their efforts over the final 45 minutes (14 to one).
 
Abby Johnson (Escondido, CA/Mission Hills) faced only one other shot on goal to begin the seventh minute in earning a third consecutive shutout.
 
The third match of a season-long homestand is Saturday night at 7 p.m. against the Sivlerswords of Chaminade University.
