Box Score

SAINT GEORGE, Utah -- #14 ranked Grand Canyon University defeated the Red Storm women's basketball team 65-49 in a PacWest Conference battle on Monday night in the Burns Arena.

Leading the way for the Antelopes (12-1, 4-1 PWC) was Malylinn Smith with 18 points and Jallisa Butler who earned a double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds.

"We just have to find a way to start games better. We cant get down 20 points and to expect to," said Angie Kristensen.

For the Red Storm (9-5, 4-2 PWC), their anemic shooting woes continued against the nationally ranked Lopes. They managed to shoot just 23.9 percent from the field and managed only 13 points in the first half. Sheila Adams (Layton, UT/Layton) scored a team high 18 points.

Depsite their shooting problems, the Red Storm cut the Lopes lead to six points with just under four minutes left in the game. GCU finished the game on a 15-4 run to put Dixie State away.

Kristensen concluded, "I thought we outplayed them in the second half but it was to little too late."

The Red Storm will host Hawaii Pacific on Saturday night in the Burns Arena at 5:00 p.m.
