PHOENIX, Ariz. – Clayton Alexander (Issaquah, WA/Issaquah/Brighton)'s one-timer in the 53rd minute knotted up a match that ended in a 1-1 draw with Colorado State – Pueblo.

Dixie State (0-1-1) may have been outshot on the evening, but had two excellent chances to close out the match – one in regulation and once again in the second overtime.

“We got off to a slow start again,” said head coach Danny Ortiz. “We were able to find our rhythm and put them under pressure for the remainder of the game.”

Erik Shallenberger (Las Vegas, NV/Arbor View) and Tyler Albretsen (Pleasant View, UT/Weber) each took corner kicks during play in the 90th minute. Neither time did the ball find the net for the Red Storm.

One final attempt came with 49 seconds left in overtime when Joshua Cook (Las Vegas, NV/Las Vegas) sailed a shot high. CSU-Pueblo had three looks early in the same period. Dixie State goalkeeper Billy Segal blocked two shots from Ryan Hunter while his third flew wide.

The Thunderwolves (0-1-1) attacked the Dixie State defense early. After multiple chances from distance, Robert Kinsey dove and headed in a cross from Rene Chacon for a 1-0 lead.

Alexander's goal, his second of the year, came four minutes later off a Shallenberger defensive clearance. The one-timer buried in the back of the net and evened the match at 1-1.

DSC sets its sights toward Grand Junction, Colo. for two games next weekend. The Red Storm face Colorado Mesa on Friday at 7 p.m. and Truman State on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
