ST. GEORGE, Utah – Despite combining for 10 walks in the span of 13.2 innings, Dixie State College starters Mike Dedrick (Cedar City, UT/Canyon View) and James Mahler (Sandy, UT/West Jordan) posted quality starts Thursday against Grand Canyon. Tyson Littlewood (St. George. UT/Pine View HS) provided the offensive spark with two homers and 5 RBI in the Red Storm's 6-2 and 5-2 victories in Pacific West Conference play at Bruce Hurst Field.

The win closed DSC's magic number to clinch the PacWest to two and propelled the club to a 26-13 overall record, 21-9 in the PacWest. GCU dropped to 20-22, 15-15 PWC.

Dedrick tossed seven innings of two-run, hit baseball in the series opener (W, 4-3).

Littlewood went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in game one. Chase Pittsenbarger (Las Vegas, NV/Las Vegas) had a pinch-hit RBI single to break a 2-2 stalemate in the seventh inning. Mike Stiles (Las Vegas, NV/Durango) added to the lead with a two-run single.

Tyler Bair plated the lone Antelope runs lining a single to left-center.

In the nightcap, Mahler survived five walks to carry a one-hitter into the seventh inning. He surrendered a two-run home run to Colin Courtland in the final frame, but earned the win (6-3) after Daniel Zapata (Mesa, AZ/Westwood) closed the game with two pitches.

Like in game one, Littlewood had the hot bat. A three-run blast off the scoreboard and a RBI single accounted for 4 RBI. Joe Andrade (Yuma, AZ/San Luis ) tallied the final RBI with a double to left field.

GCU starter Cody Repenning allowed all five DSC runs in three innings earning the loss.

The Red Storm close out conference play Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
