HILO, Hawaii – Sophomore pitcher Bryce Anderson (Cedar City, UT/Cedar HS) tossed a three-hit shutout and recorded nine strikeouts en route to Dixie State College's 6-0 non-conference win over the Hawaii-Hilo at Wong Stadium.

The Red Storm (24-13) took four of five games from the Vulcans (11-19) and completed its Hawaiian road trip taking five of nine overall games.

Anderson's gem consisted of 10 fly ball outs, seven groundballs and a career-best nine punchouts. The righty's previous strikeout high was 5, surprisingly also against the Vulcans of UH-Hilo on March 22, 2010.

Offensively, Dixie State struck for all six runs in the seventh inning against first-time starter Dan Hennigs and reliever Jeff Jones. Three singles with one out loaded the bags for Tyson Littlewood (St. George. UT/Pine View HS). A well-times single to center plated a pair to break the six-plus innings seal on the scoreboard.

DSC padded the cushion with three straight RBI doubles from Jordan Hanley (Las Vegas. NV/Bonanza), Tony Nelson (St. George. UT/Dixie) and Judd Jensen. Ammon Zitting (Pleasant Grove. UT/Lone Peak) capped off the scoring with a pinch-hit RBI single up the middle. The Red Storm tagged half of their total hits in the bottom of the seventh.

Mike Stiles (Las Vegas, NV/Durango) led the charge with three hits while Littlewood, Jensen and Quinn Boyer (Ogden, UT/Bonneville HS) each had two hits apiece for DSC.

The Vulcans had their cracks, but ultimately could not scratch across a run. UH-Hilo left 10 men on base, including eight in innings five, six and seven.

Dixie State returns home for its Pacific West Conference series finale hosting the Antelopes of Grand Canyon beginning Thursday, April 21. First pitch of a scheduled doubleheader is 4 p.m. at Bruce Hurst Field.
