Red Storm drop 2-1 decision at BYUH despite Ross goal

DSC evens up record on Hawaiian excursion

Box Score LAIE, Hawaii – In the 59th minute, BYU-Hawaii's Britt Edman netted a deflected shot which proved to be the game winner. The host Seasisders defeated Dixie State 2-1 Monday in a Pacific West Conference match.

BYUH outshot the Red Storm 16-9 for the match and improved their overall record to 8-0-1, while creeping closer to the top of the PWC with a 5-0-1 league mark. Dixie State fell to 3-3 in league and 5-7 overall.

Senior midfielder Jordyn Ross (Saint George, UT/Dixie) scored Dixie State's only goal late in the first half. Ross found the left corner of the goal on a deep shot set up by an assist from Shayla Holmstead (Lehi, UT/Lehi).

Abby Johnson (Escondido, CA/Mission Hills) made six first-half saves in goal.

Dixie State plays its third game on the current Hawaiian road swing on Wednesday against Hawaii Pacific at 4:30 p.m. Mountain time.
