Mason gets game-winner off Jensen corner kick in 2OT

HILO, Hawaii – In wet conditions on the Big Island, Jennifer Mason (Springville, UT/Springville) scored a pair of goals, including the game winner with six seconds remaining in double overtime to help Dixie State to a 3-2 league win over the Vulcans of Hawaii-Hilo.

The Red Storm improved to 5-6 overall and 3-2 in the Pac West. UH-Hilo fell to 2-7-2 on the season and remains winless in league at 0-5-2.

Steady rain made conditions at the field very sloppy. Dixie State scored 60 seconds into the match with a Mason goal, assisted by Kelsey Tesoro (Torrance, CA/Shadow Ridge) and Camille Jensen (North Logan, UT/Sky View).

Kathryn Haynie (Escondido, CA/San Pasqual) gave DSC a 2-1 lead heading into halftime scoring in the 43rd minute.

UHH's Lindsey Paulen netted both Vulcan goals, including the equalizer at 2-2 at the 55:02 mark.

The match remained tied until the final ticks in the second overtime. Jensen took a corner kick and set up Mason for the game-winner.

April Beck (American Fork, UT/American Fork) made four saves to earn the goalie victory.

Dixie State continues a four-game road trip on Monday against BYU-Hawaii in Laie. Match begins at 4:30 p.m. Mountain.
