SAINT GEORGE, Utah
– The Dixie State College women's soccer team dropped a Pacific West Conference match to Cal Baptist 4-1 this afternoon at Hansen Stadium.

The Lancers (8-1-1, 4-0-1 PWC) drew first blood in the fourth minute of the game when Kylee Nicassio found the upper right hand corner of the net off a pass from Fabiola da Silva.

CBU struck again just thirty-seconds later on a breakaway when Nicassio scored her second goal on a chip shot just over the out stretched hands of Abby Johnson (Escondido, CA/Mission Hills) from 15 yards away. Megan Merrett found her for her 2nd goal of the game and her eighth of the season.

Dixie State (3-6, 1-2 PWC) would rebound using a cross from Kimberly Thurman (Sandy, UT/Alta) to Mindi Beckstrom (Nibley, UT/Mountain Crest) who found the net from 12 yards out. The goal would cut the Lancer lead to 2-1.

In the second half it was all Cal Baptist, adding two more goals in the 62nd minute and the 63rd minute. Lindsay Vesling would assist on the first goal and score the final goal of the game on a header on a corner kick. Amanda Lammers scored her fourth goal, and Kimblerly Allard assisted the final goal.

Despite outshooting the Lancers 15-13, the Red Storm defense could not hold the CBU offense at bay.

Dixie State play at home next week against Dominican University of California at 4:00 PM p.m. on Saturday evening.
