DSC Drops Second Straight in Pac West

Losing skid is first in over a calendar year

SAN RAFAEL, CALIF. (Sept. 22) – For the second straight match, the Dixie State women's soccer team could not hold an early one-goal lead. Wednesday afternoon, the Red Storm were downed by the Dominican Penguins 2-1 in a Pacific West Conference match on the road.

The loss marked the first two-match losing skid for the Storm since last September. Dixie State (5-3-0, 2-2-0 PWC) has been defeated twice in a row by Dominican (1-4-0, 1-1-0 PWC) – DUC shutout the squad 1-0 at Hansen Stadium last November.

Whitley Davis (Sandy, UT/Brighton) converted a penalty kick at 23:37 for her first goal of the season and the only lead DSC would enjoy during the match.

Minutes later, Julianna Bratsburg's header past April Beck (American Fork, UT/American Fork) evened up the contest before the halftime break.

Dominican took the advantage 2-1 in the 54th minute when Tori Selesia scored off Katie Brown's corner kick.

Abby Monroe-Johnson took the defeat after starting the second half in goal and surrendering the Penguin go-ahead tally.

The Red Storm return home for the next four Pac West contests. On Thursday, September 30th, DSC faces Hawaii Pacific University at 7:00pm.
