Men's Soccer Earn PWC Win with Roylance Goal, Assist

Sophomore leads DSC to first win

John Jensen scored first collegiate goal at AAU

SAN FRANCISCO, CA –
The Dixie State men's soccer team put the stigma of going winless in the non-conference season with a 2-0 shutout win over the Academy of Art University Urban Knights in Pacific West Conference action on Thursday afternoon at Boxer Field.

Sophomore Jordan Roylance (Smithfield, UT/Sky View), who led the Red Storm in goals a year ago, put DSC up 1-0 at the 36:30 mark by netting a centering pass from Nyle Ortiz (Layton, UT/Layton).

Roylance then set up the insurance score early in the second half. His deflective pass off an AAU defender landed on the foot of John Jensen (Saint George, UT/Dixie) and into the upper-right corner of the goal over Daniel Waller's head.

Tyler Walters (Ogden, UT/Ben Lomand) faced his final shot, an AAU header, in the 68th minute. The keeper earned his first win blanking the Knights.

Dixie State improved to 1-3-0 (1-0-0 PWC) while the Urban Knights fell to the same mark (0-1 PWC).

Conference play continues for the Storm on Saturday against the Vulcans of Hawaii-Hilo. The match will be played in Belmont, CA on the campus of Notre Dame de Namur at 12:30pm Mountain.
