Vulcans Double Up Storm, Twice

Identical 4-2 scores earn UH HIlo sweep of Monday's action

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HILO, HAWAII – Dixie State College dropped two games at Wong Stadium to the University of Hawaii-Hilo by identical 4-2 scores on Monday night.

DSC (25-14, 15-11 PWC) were held to 10 hits over the two games and five combined errors hindered any effort of late inning comebacks.

In the series opener, the Storm did not plate any runs until the 7th inning. Judd Jensen (Taylorsville, UT/Taylorsville) and Quinn Boyer (Ogden, UT/Bonneville HS) had RBI singles before UHH ended the rally.

Troy Hunte (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial)r scattered four runs on eight hits over 5.1 innings. The freshman was outdueled by UHH starter Ronnie Loeffler to drop to 3-2 on the season. Ronel Trias went 3-3 with a walk to lead UHH offensively.

Rhett Welsh (Arvada, CO/Standley Lake) went 2-for-3 while Boyer had two hits and an RBI in the night cap. Bryce Anderson (Cedar City, UT/Cedar HS) was dealt the loss allowing four runs in 3.1 innings. Tim McMahon (Littleton. CO/Heritage) tossed 2.2 innings of hitless ball in relief.

The Storm returns to Wong Stadium Tuesday at 4:00pm (8:00pm MST) for another pair of seven inning games. Preston Grimes (Taylorsville, UT/Taylorsville) and Justin Prodan (Rohnert Park, CA/Rancho Cotate) are expected to make the starts for Dixie State.
