MORAGA, CALIF. – On day one of back-to-back doubleheaders in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Dixie State College baseball team earned two victories against the Academy of Art University Urban Knights. Justin Prodan (Rohnert Park, CA/Rancho Cotate) tossed his third complete game this year in the 9-2 game one win. Brett Adams (Sandy, UT/Alta) slugged home seven runs batted in and Chase Pittsenbarger (Las Vegas, NV/Las Vegas) knocked a grand slam in DSC's 17-4 blowout in the late afternoon.

Dixie State (8-5, 3-3 PWC) swatted 26 hits in the two games – six going for extra bases. Academy (0-10, 0-2 PWC) fell victim to the big inning. The Urban Knights allowed three or more runs in an inning six times on Friday.

Prodan allowed two runs on six hits while fanning nine to improve to 2-2 on the year. DH Rhett Welsh (Arvada, CO/Standley Lake) had his best day at the plate going 3-for-3 with two RBI singles and a lead-off homer in the second inning. LF Quinn Boyer (Ogden, UT/Bonneville HS) also had three safeties including a double and two runs scored.

Ryan Worley had two of the six AAU hits including a triple. Darnell Quinney took the loss (0-3) yielding nine runs on nine hits in six frames.

The Red Storm's offense did not falter in game two opening a 12-3 lead after three innings. Adams started his huge game with a three-run bomb to left in the first. He added an RBI double in the three-run second. DSC opened the floodgates with another Adams RBI, this time a single, and a grand slam from Pittsenbarger in the Storm's six-run third.

Adams completed his 7-RBI effort with a sacrifice fly scoring Colton Yack (South Jordan, UT/Bingham) in the fourth and drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. His run production ranks second behind teammate Drew Oldfield (Aurora, CO/Rangeview)'s 9-RBI performance against UH Hilo on March 28, 2009 at Bruce Hurst Field.

Dixie State blasted out 17 hits in support of starter Troy Hunter (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial) who tossed 3.1 innings of six hits ball allowing four runs. Tim McMahon (Littleton. CO/Heritage) recorded five outs in relief without permitting a hit earning the win (1-0). Bryce Anderson (Cedar City, UT/Cedar HS) completed the final two innings allowing one hit.

Pittsenbarger had four hits in game two with Adams and Boyer each adding two.

DSC returns to action on Saturday at 11:30am MT for the final two games of the series with AAU at Louis Guisto Baseball Field. Preston Grimes (Taylorsville, UT/Taylorsville) is expected to start one of the games for the Storm.
