Women's Soccer Ends 2010 Season with Convincing Win

3-1 over Academy Art secures at least share of 3rd in PWC

BOX SCORE: DSC 3, AAU 1

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. (November 6) –
The Dixie State women's soccer team closed out their 2010 schedule winning their fourth straight match. A 3-1 decision early on Saturday at Academy of Art University ensured DSC at least a share of third place in the Pacific West Conference final standings.

Wendy Stratford (Layton, UT/Layton) netted an early goal – the third minute – beating the keeper after a deflected shot from Mindi Beckstrom (Nibley, UT/Mountain Crest).

Dixie State's lead doubled at 31:46 when Erin Beeston (Edmond, OK/Edmond North) beat Hana Klimek's attempt to come out of the net and defend her.

Kelsey Tesoro (Torrance, CA/Shadow Ridge) added the insurance taking a Beckstrom pass and shooting into the goal from 14 yards out.

The Urban Knights also used a deflection for their lone goal by Solveig Barnes in the 73rd minute. It was one of few opportunities for Academy due to DSC dominating the shot tally 22-to-six.

April Beck (American Fork, UT/American Fork) picked up another win in net allowing zero goals in the first half while Abby Monroe-Johnson made one save in the second half.

Dixie State College ends the season with an overall record of 12-6 (9-5 in the Pac West).
