BOX SCORE: DSC 5, BYUH 1

ST. GEORGE, UTAH (October 7) –
Junior Clayton Alexander (Issaquah, WA/Issaquah/Brighton) headed in the game-winner midway through the first half in Dixie State College's 5-1 victory over BYU-Hawaii in Pacific West Conference play at Hansen Stadium.

The go-ahead score came off a corner kick by Tyler Albretsen (Pleasant View, UT/Weber) – who would later score in the second half – leaving Alexander with a wide open target to push in the goal.

Dixie State (4-6-1, 4-3-1 PWC) scored in the sixth minute on the first of two penalty kicks. Nyle Ortiz (Layton, UT/Layton) went left to beat BYUH goalkeeper Zachary Rasmussen for the 1-0 lead.

The Seasiders (2-7-0, 1-6-0 PWC) answered with Eric Lowe's goal off a long Eric Olvera pass in the 15th minute.

With a 2-1 lead, DSC sophomore Jordan Roylance (Smithfield, UT/Sky View) was fouled in the box to set up a PK goal at the 25:33 mark.

Albretsen headed in his score in the 73rd minute off a Francisco Rivero (Paramount, CA/Paramount) cross to center. The final DSC tally came from Zac Hales (Saint George, UT/Dixie). Joshua Cook (Las Vegas, NV/Las Vegas) passed the ball from the left to the foot of Hales.

Red Storm goalie Tyler Walters (Ogden, UT/Ben Lomand) made two saves improving his season mark to 4-5-1.

Dixie State will travel to Nampa, ID a week from Saturday – October 16 – for a non-conference match with the Northwest Nazarene Crusaders beginning at 3:30pm.
