MSOC: Dixie State scores early and defeats Chaminade 4-0.

Robby Astin scored his first goal of the season

SAINT GEORGE, UT-The Dixie State College men's soccer team scored three goals in the first half on their way to a 4-0 defeat of Chaminade University at Hansen Stadium on Friday night.

 

The Red Storm started fast with Jordan Roylance (Smithfield, UT/Sky View) finding Zac Hales (Saint George, UT/Dixie) who deposited the ball in the right hand side of the net in the 2nd minute for his third goal of the season to give DSC a 1-0 lead.

 

Just three minutes later, Tyler Albretsen (Pleasant View, UT/Weber)'s corner kick found Clayton Alexander (Issaquah, WA/Issaquah/Brighton) who headed the ball into the upper right part of the net to give the Red Storm a 2-0 lead. The goal was Alexander's third of the season.

 

In the 36th minute a Silverswords foul just outside the box, led to Robby Astin (Hayden, ID/Coeur d'Alene)'s first goal of the season from 15 yards out. Dixie State took the 3-0 lead into the half.

 

The final goal came in the 83rd minute on a breakaway when Timothy Shue (Henderson, NV/Green Valley) found Jordan Roylance (Smithfield, UT/Sky View) on the left side. He ripped the right corner of the net for his sixth goal of the season.

 

The Red Storm outshot Chaminade 20-4. A DSC goalie did not record a save. 

 

With the win, Dixie State improves to 6-8-1 overall and 5-5-1 in the PacWest. The Silverswords drop to 1-11-1, 0-10-1 in the PacWest.

 

The same teams will do battle on Monday night at Hansen Stadium at 4:30 PM.
