SAINT GEORGE, UT- The Dixie State College men's soccer team lost a heartbreaker for the second consecutive match on Saturday night at Hansen Stadium. The Red Storm dropped a 2-1 PacWest Conference affair with Hawaii Pacific.

Playing HPU (6-1, 5-0 PACWEST) for the second match, the Red Storm looked to improve on their 1-0 loss on Thursday night.

Dixie State (2-6-1, 2-3-1 PACWEST) capitalized by jumping out to an early 1-0 lead when Clayton Alexander (Issaquah, WA/Issaquah/Brighton) found the center of the net from five yards out in the 34th minute.  Alexander netted the deflected pass to put the Red Storm on top.

The match was very physical and saw four yellow cards and 32 fouls called during it.  The two schools matched shots with nine apiece. Dixie State allowed only three shots on goal in the second half, but two found the net.

In the 83rd minute, from the right side Chance Bukoski found Richard Guffens from four yards out. The goal evened the match a 1-1.

Just three minutes later in the 86th minute, Chance Bukoski snuck a shot from 25 yards out on the right sideline by DSC goalie Tyler Walters (Ogden, UT/Ben Lomand). Walters appeared to have the ball stopped, but due to rainy conditions the ball squirted out of his hands and into the goal for the game winner.

Dixie State will play host to BYU-Hawaii on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Dixie High School. The venue was changed due to the Hunstman World Senior Games Opening Ceremonies taking place at Hansen Stadium. Please follow all the live action on www.dixieathletics.com.
