#19 Grand Canyon Blanks Storm 3-0 Behind Ciliento

PWC player of the year scores twice

ST. GEORGE, UTAH (October 18) –
Sophomore star Kyle Ciliento netted his 15th and 16th goals of the season en route to a 3-0 road victory for #19 Grand Canyon University over the Dixie State Red Storm in Pacific West Conference play on Monday afternoon at Hansen Stadium.

The reigning Pac West player of the year took a long centering pass from Tom Hurdle in the 16th minute and beat Tyler Walters (Ogden, UT/Ben Lomand) in the center of the net. Later, Ciliento went to the right side of the goal at 75:14 off a superbly place setup from Joao Vieira.

Mitchell Garcia netted the other Antelope (10-2-1, 8-1-0 PWC) goal in the 54th minute off a free kick. The left-footer slipped a lazer-like shot into the right corner.

Dixie State (5-7-1, 4-4-1 PWC) battled through the physical match, but never slipped a shot past Ben Paneccasio. Defender Clayton Alexander (Issaquah, WA/Issaquah/Brighton) had the best chances late in the matching accounting for three overall shots, two on-goal.

The two soccer clubs will reconvene on the home pitch of GCU on Saturday night for another Pacific West clash beginning at 5:45pm.
