SAINT GEORGE, UT-Despite outshooting Grand Canyon University 15-8, the Dixie State College women's soccer team dropped a PacWest Conference match 2-0 Saturday night at Hansen Stadium.
The Red Storm (7-6, 4-5 PacWest) had plenty of chances early; credit the goal work of GCU's Stephanie Phillips. She turned back four DSC shots in the first half and two in the second half.
In the second half in the 51st minute, Grand Canyon's Fiona Moloney found Michelle Carels who capitalized on an empty net from 20 yards out center field.
Just three minutes later in the 54th minute, Michelle Carels scored her second goal when Red Storm goalie April Beck (American Fork, UT/American Fork)'s goal kick was intercepted for the goal.
Dixie State dropped its third consecutive match and will have a week before they travel to Phoenix to take on Grand Canyon next Saturday at 8:00 PM.
